The church of Hvaler is situated outermost on the islands of Hvaler. This is one of the oldest stone churches in Norway. Here you can clearly see the tetragrammaton on top of the altarpiece.
In addition you can see the tetragrammaton on the painted altar image, inside a fireball. Notice that this tetragrammaton is written the opposite way – from left to right. The artist had probably access to the Hebrew letters, men not knowledge of the fact that Hebrew is written from right to left.
